Can your Internet connection handle the upload traffic for a Server?
DSL and Cable Internet connections are great for users and their browsers. Users generally spend more time downloading than uploading. However, Internet connections designed for users are usually not good enough for servers. Servers must spend most of their time uploading content to external users and other servers. Upload speed for servers is paramount.
We recommend a minimal of a full T1 connection with symmetrical upload and download speed of 1.5 Mbps.
The primary AthensGuy.com servers have 10Mbps network cards and are inside a "highly advanced datacenter overseeing 1.5% of all U.S. Internet traffic and 30,000 servers to over 25 Gigabits of Internet bandwidth." You can read more about the primary datacenter used by AthensGuy.com.
